While in Sarlat I really went on holiday, so no posts for a while!! Laura requested a new post from me, so you can blame this one on her!!
The toilet paper saga continues!! Drum roll please!! I started to think about the dissolvable toilet paper tube and wondered, “why do we even need one”? I thought surely there must be a way to wind the paper without the tube!!?? So the next trip to the super market, I decided to check it out. Guess what?? There is and it won a French 2019 new product award!! It has no tube and has twice the amount of paper on it!! Just marvelous?? How about solving world peace??!!
As you know by now we love this part of France and could very easily live here. We would need a FEW French lessons though? Annie did give me my second French lesson on the proper pronunciation of the word “Lourdes”, the other evening when they stopped by for wine and nibbles. So after two intense lessons last year and this year, I am almost there? No drum roll please!
I love renting apartments and houses when we travel because you are living as the people do and amongst them. Such a wonderful experience and what a way to learn!! Another reason for me is the food and my allergies, which you all know about and the fact that I love food and cooking, which means grocery stores. I do love the grocery stores even after the “sausage fiasco”. I love trying new things.
This year we found a new “keeper”, Paupiettes de Veau. France raises the best veal in the world!! As you may or may not know, everything in France is the best, just as in Russia and Texas, everything is the biggest!! I wonder if they know they both make the same claim??
We loved the 17 day stay in Sarlat —-good days of relaxing and enjoying the best of France, while visiting old and new sites. Yesterday after a five hour drive we arrived in Figueres, Spain, another favorite of ours. I am here to revisit DALI and Robert is here for castles and forts.
Last year in Spain, we learned about how the Spanish celebrate Columbus Day!! The whole country shuts down and everyone parties for a long weekend. So this year we waited until after the holiday to arrive, but guess what?? Hint—we are in Catalonia and their flag is flying everywhere?? We arrived just in time for a one day strike?? Yes, everything is closed today. It was a surprise, even the locals did not know what was going on!! So we are on a forced down day but we have food and wine brought from France, so we are set to relax and enjoy. Enough for now!! Everyone take care!!
OOPS, almost forgot the flower pictures. They were in a vase of water for us in our apartment in Spain—does anyone know what they are??
Are you sick of me saying ” I LOVE IT”?? Sorry but I do enjoy it all!!

Yay. Good to hear from you again! 😊
