Anne’s View 2018-5

What can I say?? Chateaux, chateaux, chateaux, cathedral, monastery, monastery, chateaux, chateaux, monastery, etc.

Do not get me wrong, I love the chateaux but the Dordogne River Valley has over 15,000 chateaux. So it might take forever to see them all. What has fascinated us this time is the number that have no family left due to the French Revolution. The family trees shown, end with the last member and “Guillotine”!! So!!! Luckily someone or some trust own them now to preserve the history!!

The pics this time are of my favorite chateaux in the whole world and that is Beynac, owned at one point by Richard I or Lionheart!! So we spent time there again.

The others are an umbrella stand that I love because of the bears and the wood—walnut of course. Found at a chateaux. Last is a garden from another chateaux we visited yesterday—I call it a  basket weave and loved it?

Tuesday, we were invited over to Annie and Michel’s house (a 200+ year old farm house) for an evening of food,  wine, and conversation even with the language issue it was wonderful!! Today they are coming over here for wine and nibbles. Should be great.

Tomorrow we leave and head to Spain. Sad but not as sad since we have a few extra days in the schedule and are coming back here as we head for Italy and the flight home. So will have more time to explore. Au revoir for now.
