Again I am behind but I am on holiday! SO….
To begin with, we left Noyers a bit sad but knowing that we will definitely return. We drove straight to Tours and La Mazeraie. It was interesting driving up to it?? From the distance it looked like a wonderful estate. The closer we got, the more it looked like a ruin, which it is, but under renovation/reconstruction.
Our apartment was beautiful –Robert has pics up—renovated but still had reminders that it was very old!! It is a gated estate with horses, chickens and a dog named Marty.
Marty was the highlight of the stay at the apartment. I even wrote the message in the visitors book to him!! His family was gone for the time we were there—so he was in charge—also, their daughter. He loved visiting, playing keep away with his sticks and eating foie gras in the evenings. What a good gentle young man!!
The first day we visited Valencay which was marvelous — Robert has the pics!!
The second day we visited Azay le Rideaux —fantastic, drove by Chinon ruins—where Richard I was born, and Fontevrand Abbey where Alienor of Aquitaine lived after Henry II died, and where she and Henry II and their son Richard I are all buried. AMAZING!! Can you tell—Alienor of Aquitaine is one of my heroines!!
I must add that at the café on the grounds at Azay I had THE most wonderful salad I have ever had anywhere. Salade Philippe was unbelievable. There was so much of the meat, fish and white asparagus on it that Robert AND I sharing it, could not finish it. Wanted a food porn photo for Sue and Wendy but could not resist and got carried away when I saw it, so no photo for you!! Sorry girls!!
The next day we left Tours and visited Loches City, on the way to Sarlat-la-Caneda. Robert will have pics of all of the sites coming up.
We are here now in our 1694 farm house for the next two weeks. This is my favorite place in France—Aquitaine–wonder why—there is so much to see and do that we will have to come back again!! ’til next post!!

Sounds like you are having a great adventure, keep on enjoying and stay well
Thanks Lynne!! I am healthy—knock on wood—but Robert’s back is out and bad—so we are relaxing today. Today hopefully will be the end of a HOT spell. Has been in the 30’s and you know sun and old stones make for extreme heat!!
Take care and stay well also. Anne
Sounds like all is going well for you both, loved that you shared your nibbles with the delightful dog .
Yes, he was a delight!! Miss him!!
A bird flew in for a visit yesterday —exciting. We have friendly geckos on the patio that show us how they survive!!
Glad you found us again.
Anne
Dang it, Anne. Would love to have seen that salad. LOL. Glad to see you are having a great time and that you are healthy. Sorry to hear about Robert’s back. Hope it is better soon. Love and hugs.
Sue
Taking it easy yesterday, ice packs and muscle relaxers all helped and he is moving better today. So fingers crossed. I want a pic of that salad too—still cannot believe that WE forgot?? Oh well, must have been hungry?? Love,
Anne
